My story

My story begins in a small village in the middle of the Netherlands. I grew up there in a loving family with two brothers and a sister. As the youngest of four children, I had plenty of examples to follow. Possible career paths felt as if they were already laid out before me. Unlike a firstborn, I did not have to figure everything out on my own, which was comforting. At the same time, it can make it harder to choose a completely different path. Which was the case for me. In terms of interests and personality, I was different from my brothers and sister, and as a child I found it difficult to make important choices. Think of school and study choices. What suits me? And what are sensible choices? Those were questions I found hard to bring together for a long time.

But who really knows the right answers to these kinds of questions at a young age? I think very few of us do. And do these questions not remain complicated throughout life? I believe they do. They are life questions. As a person you keep changing, so the answers to these questions sometimes change along with you.

Eventually, these choices and experiences made me feel like I was heading in the wrong direction at the beginning of my career. That is why, in 2021, I decided to change course. I realized that I was passing by my own happiness, largely out of fear. At the time, it felt easier to tell myself that something would not work out anyway than to believe in myself. This way of thinking kept me from pursuing my dream, which is creating media. A dream I have had from a young age.
